[Bug] MetaMask login unreliable / stuck on Connecting (Android & iOS)

### Description
MetaMask login flow is unreliable across platforms.

*General issue:* Most of the time, the app redirects to MetaMask but stays on "Connecting..." indefinitely.

*Platform specifics:*
- **iOS**: login goes through WalletConnect and works somewhat better, but still gets stuck occasionally.
- **Android**: the button goes directly to MetaMask, and the flow is very unreliable. The first "connect to DCL" panel appears and shows updated permissions, but the second modal (to sign with the wallet) takes a very long time or doesn't appear at all.

Overall, connecting with MetaMask on Android is very difficult right now.

### Expected behavior
MetaMask login should reliably connect and complete the sign flow (both connect + sign modals) within a reasonable time on both Android and iOS.

### Steps to reproduce
1. Open the app and choose to log in with MetaMask.
2. On Android: tap the login button (redirects directly to MetaMask).
3. On iOS: tap the login button (goes through WalletConnect).
4. Observe the "Connecting..." screen and/or the wallet's connect/sign modals.

### Occurrence
Frequent (most of the time on Android; occasional on iOS)
