Changing the sigma of the input distribution causes problems for bound setting

Description
The Newton solver that solves for the adequate bounds for the input distribution doesn't converge for bad (or not good enough) initial guesses, so when you need to reset the sigma during estimation it often crashes or returns crazy bounds.
