Append variables to existing dataframe/list

Description
It would be nice if reading additional variables of a dataframe would be also possible.
Eg.: foo database has been loaded, but with only 2 columns, and I would like to read another column, then do not delete the dataframe read before, instead append the column to the existing ones.
