Describe the bug
Hi,
I am using Windows 11 Pro on an HP laptop with a Snapdragon/ARM processor.
I downloaded the official Windows on ARM (WOA) version of darktable directly from darktable.org.
darktable worked normally for several days. Now Windows Smart App Control blocks darktable when I try to launch it. Windows displays a message saying that the app may not be safe because the publisher cannot be verified.
Update: When trying to launch darktable again, I now get a different error message:
Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted.
"Error 4551: Eine Anwendungssteuerungsrichtlinie hat diese Datei blockiert."
Is this a known issue with the WOA/ARM version of darktable and Windows Smart App Control?
If so, could you please suggest a solution? I would ideally like to keep Smart App Control enabled rather than disabling Windows security features.
Is there anything that can be done so that Windows recognizes the official darktable WOA build as trusted and works properly?
Thank you very much for your help!
Steps to reproduce
- Install the official Windows on ARM (WOA) version of darktable from darktable.org.
- Launch darktable.
- darktable works normally at first.
- After several days, try to launch darktable again.
- Windows Smart App Control blocks the application and displays a message saying that Windows cannot verify the publisher and that the app may not be safe.
I cannot identify a specific action that caused the problem. darktable worked normally for several days, and then Windows Smart App Control started blocking it when I tried to launch it.
Expected behavior
darktable should launch normally without being blocked by Windows Smart App Control.

Research direction
Start by reproducing the launch failure with the official darktable 5.6.0 WOA build from darktable.org or the GitHub release on Windows 11 ARM with Smart App Control enabled. Compare the normal initial launch with the later block and the temporary-directory installer error 4551. Done means identifying whether the official build's trust or release handling causes the block and recording a verified resolution; no source file or test is named in the report.
