Description
Is there an existing issue for this?
- I checked and did not find my issue in the already reported ones
Describe the bug
I've seen a few of the other issues regarding running the AppImage on Wayland but I can't seem to get it working on my end. I just recently switched to trying niri and always get this error:
(org.darktable.darktable:6516): Gtk-WARNING **: 14:19:40.222: cannot open display:
I've tried running it with GDK_BACKEND=x11 and setting DISPLAY=:1 but nothing changes. I'm not sure if it's anything on my end or due specifically to the AppImage.
Steps to reproduce
- From TTY start niri ->
exec dbus-run-session -- niri --session - ./Darktable-5.6.0-x86_64.AppImage

Research direction
Begin by reproducing the launch from a TTY with dbus-run-session -- niri --session, then run ./Darktable-5.6.0-x86_64.AppImage on Void Linux as described. Compare the AppImage behavior under Wayland and with the reported GDK_BACKEND and DISPLAY settings; done means establishing whether the failure is AppImage-specific and documenting the relevant diagnosis.
