Description
Is there an existing issue for this?
- I checked and did not find my issue in the already reported ones
Describe the bug
When editing description or notes on grouped images, I noticed that often, when coming back to the group, the data seems not in sync across the pics of the group, leaving the <leave unchanged> comment.
Steps to reproduce
- edit notes with some text on a group of images
- click on another pic
- click back on the group of step 1 (not systematic)
Expected behavior
propagate metadata across all images within the group

Research direction
Start by reproducing the grouped-image metadata workflow described in the issue on darktable 5.4.1 under Linux/NixOS, focusing on editing notes, switching images, and returning to the group. Trace the grouped-image metadata handling to determine why the data can remain unsynchronized. Done means edited descriptions or notes consistently propagate across all images in the group without leaving the state.
