Dark Table not following kanata overrides

Describe the bug

I use kanata for easier keyboard shortcuts, for example hold "j" for the control key. Unfortunately when I use darktable, it doesn't respect these keybinds. Holding one of the keys that should be read as a modifier will be processed as the key itself, this results in annoying issues such as not being to switch to other applications as my super key (holding ";") will be processed as ";" in darktable. My current solution is just disabling kanata when using darktable but its not ideal.

Steps to reproduce

1. Apply home row mods
2. Attempt to use a modifier in darktable (most obvious example I've found is super)

Expected behavior

Respect the keyboard mods and process them as other applications do

Start by reproducing the modifier behavior in darktable 5.2.1 on Linux with X11 and kanata home-row mods, comparing it with other applications. Trace darktable's keyboard input handling and verify that remapped modifiers, especially Super, are recognized as modifiers rather than their underlying keys.
