Research direction
No source file or test is named. First reproduce the issue in darktable 5.5.0-378 on Linux using a keyboard shortcut and then a mouse click, and trace the two cursor-activation paths. Done means activating the color picker through its shortcut removes the tone equalizer cursor from the canvas, matching mouse activation.
