Description
Is there an existing issue for this?
- I checked and did not find my issue in the already reported ones
Describe the bug
Today I tried the 5.3 version (git) and I've noticed an addition of a top bar saying "darktable" in the centre and a cross button in the right to close the application. This top bar / title bar is not present in the production version I've also installed (5.2.1).
Tested with:
- Hyprland (Wayland). The bug is present in 5.3; the production version does not show the top bar as expected.
- bspwm (Xorg). The bug is not present in 5.3 nor production version 5.2.1.
As for now, I've not tested it in other Wayland tiling window managers.
Steps to reproduce
- Open darktable in a Wayland tiling window manager, like Hyprland
Expected behavior
In tiling window managers (Wayland and Xorg), the top bar with the name of the app "darktable" and the cross to close the app, should not be shown.

Research direction
Reproduce the issue by running darktable 5.3 under Hyprland and compare its window presentation with 5.2.1 and with bspwm. No file or test is named, so trace the window-decoration behavior from the application startup or window setup; done means the top bar is absent in tiling Wayland and Xorg environments without regressing normal window behavior.
