Research direction
Start by reproducing the failure on Linux with KDE Plasma 6.4.5, Qt 6.9.2, and Wayland using Dolphin and darktable 5.2.1, then compare drag-and-drop behavior with the older darktable 4 series if available. Done means dragging one or more files into the darktable window imports the images instead of showing the prohibited-drop symbol.
