stop requesting permission to write gists

A user at NDRH is saying that when registering for DANDI, DANDI is requesting permission to write gists on GitHub. He wants to know why we are requesting permission to do this (and, understandably, would rather not grant permission for something like this). To my knowledge we never use this permission and do not intend to d so. Would it be possible to not ask for this?
