Description

Any reading system, no matter how well designed with accessibility in mind, needs to have a mechanism for exporting the content to a digital format for the creation of specialized formats & supporting materials (such as translations to other languages, tactile materails like braille and tactile graphics, or formats currently not available through the reading app itself). As an alternative format production specialist, I often encounter reading systems without this functionality. So, when a student, for whatever reason, needs to engage with the content outside of the app environment, the functionality to export the content out of the app in a digital format that can be used to create alternative formats or supporting materials is essential for providing timely access to the content.
