Description

When there is a print version of the book, publishers should provide the print page list. This identifies the page break and the page number associated with the print book. However, when the publisher has not provided this, or if the book was never provided as a print version, the question arises as to what to do.

This relates to the work being done on how to generate virtual page nubers consistently accross publications and reading systems.

We may find that there is a standardized way to generat references for digital publications. We may find that the development of standards for virtual page number generation is closer than we think.

At any rate the research needs to be done to determine if we can solve this problem. This relates to issues 55, 85, and 86.
