Research direction
The issue does not name source files, tests, or a settings entry point. Start by locating the thumbnail-generation path and existing image-viewer settings, then determine where a disable option belongs. Done means users can turn off thumbnail generation for pictures and the behavior is covered by an appropriate test or verified manually.
