Description

System information
  • Windows OS version: Windows 11 Pro 23H2
  • ImageGlass version: Version: 9.0.11.502 (64-bit), WebView2 Runtime: 125.0.2535.79, .NET Runtime: 8.0.6
  • ImageGlass release: Store
To Reproduce

Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Trying to open images from a syncronized folder locally when offline
  2. Shows only an error message (screenshot as attached)
Actual behavior
  • The images are in a synced folder; synced with Windows native sync tool over VPN between a server folder and local folder
  • The sync will happen always when the VPN is on.
  • When trying to open images without VPN connection, the images do not open; Only the error message is seen
Expected behavior
  • The images should be opened locally like all the other files do

Additional context
  • Computer booted > No affect, still same behavior

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the ImageGlass (from the Microsoft store) > No affect, still same behavior

  • The images will open from the synced local folder when VPN is connected

  • The images will open from the other local folders (no sync) despite VPN on or off

  • The images will open from all the server folders over VPN

  • The other files will open from the local folders despite VPN on or off. The issue is only in ImageGlass

  • The issue has not been all the time. In the past the images opened like they should.

Research direction

Start by reproducing the issue on Windows 11 with ImageGlass 9.0.11.502 using a locally synced folder while offline, then compare it with an ordinary local folder and the same synced folder while connected over VPN. Inspect the image-opening path and the displayed error, and consider the issue done when synced local images open offline without regressing other folder types.
