Description
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
I have recently come across your software and my feature request is not related to a problem.
I frequently need to proof read documents that have been scanned from a print document, then OCR'd into a digital file. This requires a side by side comparison of the scan and the OCR'd output. Many times, when fixing ocr issues in the output file, trying to visually relocate my last compared position on the digital scan can become difficult and time consuming as my eyes wander over the scan trying to find the correct location.
Describe the solution you'd like
It would be extremely helpful if there was some type of pointer or transparent ruler that could be popped up and placed over the image. Maybe something similar to the Ruler in the MS Snip & Sketch app?

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by reviewing the image-viewer UI and agreeing on the ruler or pointer behavior, placement, and supported views; done would require an accepted design and tests covering the resulting overlay behavior.
