Description
I noticed on attempting to update Sphinx to v7.x that some function docstrings appear to be incompatible or cause exceptions with Sphinx builds. We use the `-W` flag with `sphinx-build` meaning we will need to find a resolution for this. In the meantime I'm opening this issue as a reminder of compatibility needs.
