Description

With a touch interface it's very hard to provide the location of an issue. I've been testing this on Android 5.1 (Fairphone 2) after a local user reported the problem.

The problems that I've found include:

  • Starting to draw an area means that the first point is under the area or line buttons even so all you are trying to do is set the drawing mode.
  • It's very hard to complete the shape as it's hard to tap close enough on the start point (areas) or the last point (lines).
  • Sometimes taps aren't registered and things aren't drawn at all, or are drawn off the view.
  • Tapping clear can sometimes mean that the first point is under the clear button.

Research direction

Reproduce the issue on the reported Android 5.1 Fairphone 2 setup and trace the mobile issue-location drawing flow. Verify the area, line, clear, tap-registration, and off-view behaviors described here; done means these touch interactions work reliably without obscuring the drawing controls.
