Description
In an email exchange I wrote:
It would be very useful to be able correct one's own posts, or at least to delete them.
And Martin replied:
Admins can delete ('censor') a message. I think you should be able to do that - but perhaps this is actually site admins rather than group admins. Do you get a little cog when you hover the mouse over a message?
The little cog menu only offers 'Create Library Note'. So it seems group admins don't have the necessary authority.
Matin also wrote:
However, one reason there isn't correction of posts is that messages are often already in people's inboxes (if they have enabled to receive e-mail), before you correct it. So there's a genuine question here whether editability should be permitted.
Understood. but a correct permanent record should be on the server. Perhaps a change history mechanism is needed.

Research direction
Start by reading the issue discussion about editing, deleting, administrator authority, email delivery, and change history. No files, tests, or entry points are named. The work is not ready to pick up until the project decides whether messages can be edited or deleted and how a permanent history should behave.
