Should the metadata column be removed on uninstallation?

Currently, the `uninstall` profle doesn't contain a `catalog.xml` to remove the `metadata_version` column which is added during installation, because it can be removed easily using the UI of the portal catalog.

Is this considered good practice?
Should we perhaps offer another profile, e.g. named `purge`, to remove the catalog data as well?

Review the installation profile that adds the metadata_version column and compare it with the uninstall profile, which currently lacks catalog.xml. Check how the portal catalog UI removes the column, then establish whether uninstallation should remove catalog data or whether a separate purge profile is the desired completed outcome.
