Description
Goal: Expand deterministic tests around business logic and known footguns.
Rules:
1. Add or expand tests for discount.py.
2. Add or expand tests for query_builder.py.
3. If mutable default bug exists, fix it with minimal change and add regression test.
4. If bug already fixed, only add/strengthen regression tests.
Definition of done:
1. Edge-case tests are explicit and deterministic.
2. No unrelated refactors.
3. Targeted test commands pass.
