My name is Fahad Khalid, a Computer Science student and technology community organizer from Muridke, Pakistan. I currently serve as an AWS Student Builder Group Leader and Microsoft Student Ambassador, where I focus on helping students explore cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.

I have organized 4 technology-focused events for students with a combined attendance of 150+ participants, and our AWS Student Builder Group community has grown to 400+ members. Through these initiatives, I regularly help students learn about technologies and opportunities that are otherwise difficult to access locally.

I also have hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices, alongside my broader interests in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity.

### What is your mission statement or objective for this new group?

My mission is to build an accessible, inclusive, and vendor-neutral cloud-native community in Muridke and the surrounding areas, giving students and aspiring developers access to practical knowledge, mentorship, open-source technologies, and opportunities that are currently difficult to access locally.

Over the past three years, I have personally experienced the lack of strong technical education and technology communities in my city. Students who want quality education, technical exposure, or community-driven learning often have to travel to Lahore, sometimes spending hours commuting or moving into hostels. For many families, this is simply not affordable. This challenge is even more significant for many female students who may not be permitted to travel to another city for education. As a result, many students in local institutions receive formal education but have limited access to practical skills, modern technologies, professional communities, and industry exposure.

I experienced this gap myself, and instead of accepting that students must leave their city to find these opportunities, I decided to start creating them locally. I began organizing technology initiatives, opened an AWS Student Builder Group, became a Microsoft Student Ambassador, and started helping students discover modern technologies and opportunities.

Cloud Native Muridke is the next step in that journey. I want to create a community where students and developers can learn Kubernetes, containers, cloud-native development, DevOps, observability, security, and other CNCF technologies through hands-on workshops, talks, study groups, mentorship, and open-source collaboration.

The goal is not the promotion of any company or product. It is to serve the community, reduce the opportunity gap between smaller cities and major technology hubs, and help students build the skills, confidence, and connections needed to participate in the global cloud-native ecosystem.
