Description

From everything I can tell, it looks like this error typically revolves around compatibility issues with python2 and python3. I'm running ckan 2.8, which should be compatible.

```
pip install -e git+https://github.com/ckan/ckanext-googleanalytics.git#egg=ckanext-googleanalytics
DEPRECATION: Python 2.7 reached the end of its life on January 1st, 2020. Please upgrade your Python as Python 2.7 is no longer maintained. pip 21.0 will drop support for Python 2.7 in January 2021. More details about Python 2 support in pip, can be found at https://pip.pypa.io/en/latest/development/release-process/#python-2-support
Research direction
Start by reproducing the shown pip install command in the reported CKAN 2.8 and Python 2.7 environment. Inspect the PEP 517 build-isolation traceback around pip's BackendUnavailable error and determine whether the plugin or its build dependencies cause it. Done means the installation path is identified and the plugin installs successfully or its supported environment is documented.
