Low lying fog? Volumetric clouds?

I believe this forum is slightly dead and the last update was long ago but i would LOVE to see some kind of feature that allows for volumetric fog that i can set to end at a specific height. Imagine a sunrise in the mountains with Trees in the valleys and Just having some gorgeous low hanging clouds/fog between the Trees and Just having the top of the Trees sticking out of the low lying clouds/fog
It would be so perfect and would make for some beautifull renders
