Describe the Enhancement

We need some unit and benchmark tests for validating memory related operations to make sure there are no memory leaks or performance issues.

Describe the Need

We should be able to identify any change with significant impact on performance or memory usage. Some unit tests are also required to make sure memory blocks are properly retained and released.
