New Post alert should not show when there are no new posts

Description
New posts alert on phanpy.social when connected to pixelfed instance but actually there are none
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
1. Go to 'phanpy.social'
2. Click on 'Local Timeline'
3. Wait a minute or two for the New Posts alert to show up
4. Click on New Posts
**Expected behavior**
1--it should redirect to the new posts
or
2--it should not show the alert at all
I checked after clicking on the alert and found out there is no new posts so for my case, expected behavior 2 applies
