Feature request: different scaling options for expanded images

The default behaviour of scaling images to fit the screen is fine for most images, but fails very badly on images which are very tall and narrow and contain text (which is a common meme format). When these are scaled to fit, they're displayed as a tiny narrow column with barely visible contents and completely illegible text. There doesn't appear to be any way to view the image at a more reasonable size without opening it in a separate tab and using browser features to change the way it is displayed there.

My suggestion would be for clicking on the expanded image to cycle between scaled to fit and original size + scroll (and perhaps other options like fit height only and fit width only, for images which have an extreme width:height ratio *and* are too large for the smaller dimension to fit the screen). Alternatively / additionally, scaling options could go in the menu where you can currently choose to open the original image.

No source file or test is named. Reproduce the issue with the linked example post and inspect the expanded-image behavior and the existing menu option for opening the original image. Done means providing a decided set of scaling options that makes tall, narrow images readable without requiring a separate browser tab.
