[feature] use build status indication visible in text based browsers

currently, the indication is based on background color (yellow, green, red) and a small icon that looks like an image.
would be great if we could have an indication that could be textual and rendered in: w3m, curl, links etc.

Review the build-status rendering path and compare its output in w3m, curl, and links. Done when each status has a textual indication that remains visible without background colors or image-like icons; the issue names no file or test, so trace the relevant entry point first.
