Description

## Description

Searching for countries with accents in French ex: États-Unis, does not always lead to a result if the accent is missing from the lookup input. Possible to make sure all similar characters yield expected results for users?

## Context

https://cds-snc.freshdesk.com/a/tickets/29627

> For a searchable list, should accented characters be considered equivalent to their unaccented counterparts? In French at least? I noticed that while using the new Address Complete country widget and looking for "États-Unis" in the French form and not getting anything with an initial "E". It works with "É" only. Same for "Taïwan", "Tai" does not find anything.

Research direction

Start with the Address Complete country widget and reproduce the French-form searches for "Etats-Unis" and "Taiwan" described in the issue, then review related issues #7742, #7709, and #7788. Done means accented and unaccented lookup inputs return the expected country results consistently.
