Description

I am trying out contrastive head of needle but it appears to not be working.
Here's my script:

```python
from needle import load_checkpoint, retrieve_tools, SimpleAttentionNetwork, get_tokenizer

params, config = load_checkpoint("checkpoints/needle.pkl")
model = SimpleAttentionNetwork(config)
tokenizer = get_tokenizer()

tools = retrieve_tools(model,

tokenizer,
query="What's the weather in Lagos?",
tool_descriptions=['{"name":"get_weather","parameters":{"location":"string"}}',

I get this result:

```

I inspected the output of the `encode_for_retrieval` function in the [run.py](https://github.com/cactus-compute/needle/blob/main/needle/model/run.py#L340) file.
This is what I got for the query:

Is this the expected output?
Or did I make a mistake.

Research direction

Reproduce the script using needle/model/run.py, starting at encode_for_retrieval around line 340 and tracing the inputs passed to retrieve_tools. Compare the query and tool arrays with the returned ranking, then determine whether all-zero bfloat16 embeddings are expected. Done means the behavior is explained and, if incorrect, a focused regression check demonstrates the corrected retrieval output.
