win11 upgrade ahci drivers inaccessible boot drive 10-11 upgrade

I've been having an issue upgrading from Windows 10 to 11. During the installation, after the restart, I get an "inaccessible boot device" error, and it rolls back.

I believe this is related to old Intel RST AHCI drivers. I use standard AHCI drivers, but I suspect the update reverts to the Intel RST AHCI driver during the Windows 11 upgrade.

Is there a way to remove the old Intel RST drivers from the Windows 10 installation so it consistently uses the standard AHCI driver in Device Manager? The old AHCI drivers don't show up as hidden devices.

How do I remove them so they don't show up in "Update Drivers" in Device Manager? Is there any way to force the Windows 11 upgrade to stay on the standard AHCI driver? Don't touch drivers during install.
