Description
Painting and coatings is a significant aspect of the AEC industry. However, IFC offers very little guidance on how to specify it. There are a few suggestions, each with pros and cons, including:
- IfcCovering
- IfcMaterialConstituent + IfcShapeAspect
- IfcMaterialLayer
- Custom Pset
- IfcSurfaceFeature (added thanks to @TLiebich )
This is probably not something that can be solved for IFC4.3, and may require a working group together with materials.
