Description
The HESTIA and ecoinvent glossaries have similar or identical concepts in the following:
- (some) intermediate or technosphere flows
- (some) elementary or biosphere flows
- units
- locations
We could include links in both systems to refer to objects in the other system. Yeah semantic web!
- [ ] Design contexts for references in both data formats
- [ ] Match objects automatically as much as possible
- [ ] Identify patterns where automatic matching fails
- [ ] Publish the matches in each glossary

Research direction
Start with the issue checklist and clarify the two glossary data formats, their reference mechanisms, and the scope of the proposed semantic links. Define how intermediate, technosphere, elementary, biosphere, unit, and location objects should be matched, then document the automatic matching failures and publishing targets. The issue is done when both glossaries contain the agreed cross-references.
