Research direction
Start by reproducing the issue with a password-protected XLSX loaded through the CDN in an external React or Angular application, using Edge and Firefox with the listed preview versions. Compare the result with the Box.com viewer; done when the encrypted Excel file displays in the external previewer without requesting an update.
