Description
**What I'd like:**
I would like to have mainline kernel support.
It helps to build and run bpf based tools, because you do not need to wait for rather old kernels to have support of newer features.
Also security wise it would reduce attack surface.
**Any alternatives you've considered:**
Using ubuntu with zabbly-linux instead

Research direction
The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by defining which mainline kernel support is requested and how it would affect Bottlerocket’s existing kernel support; done would require an agreed scope and implementation plan.
