Howdy requires an empty password to begin facial recognition

I am using EndeavourOS with KDE and SDDM. Everytime I try to unlock my laptop, I need to enter an empty password for howdy to begin facial recognition. Is there anyway such that Howdy will automatically begin facial recognition? I've tried "sudo chmod -R 755 /lib/security/howdy" and /lib/security/howdy has the proper permissions but it does not work. Any fixes?
