[feature request/idea] integrate tmux as an advanced option?

I would absolutely love to see this ... Especially as the control-sequence could be defaulted to something other than the default C-b, it wouldn’t interfere with tux or screen on remote sessions and would allow all sorts of advanced and amazing features like horizontally and vertically split sessions, etc.

Just floating the idea, no idea how practical this may or may not be.
