Ideally the command should create any files that don't exist, currently you have to ctrl+click each link first to create the file and then execute the command

Research direction
Reproduce the issue by running the “Add links” command when a linked file does not yet exist, then trace the command’s file-handling path. Done means the command creates missing files automatically, without requiring each link to be opened with Ctrl+click first.
