Description

Create a means for ordinary people to become storage providers, and for storage clients to make payments to incentivize them to store their data. This also reduces DIBA's costs, since we're not storing everything in S3, which can get expensive.

Storage can be paid on a 24 hour basis, with, say, a 1KB storage challenge per 1 gigabyte stored, or however many as a user wants to pay for, really. Bandwidth is also charged for, but it's harder to know the bandwidth supply and latency, so that's harder to price. Fixed prices for now on both storage and bandwidth, till storage markets can be developed.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. Start by mapping the existing storage-provider and client code, then determine how storage and bandwidth pricing, payment incentives, and storage challenges should fit together. Done means an agreed design and an implemented payment flow that reduces reliance on S3.
