Studies associated with a plate disappear

Studies that have been associated with a plate have been reported to disappear when the user migrates to another page and then return to the plating interface.

Speculation is that this occurs because studies without associated specimen_ids in any of the cells below may be getting removed from the the plate metadata. This may be fine for completed plates, however, for plating in progress, it appears as odd behavior.
