Description
We removed support for Ubuntu 18.04 since it is deprecated as a runner image from Github Actions and now we only support Ubuntu 20.04.
It would be great if we could add support for Ubuntu 22.04 and debian 10 (where the POSIX tests run on). When I tried to add it a few tests failed and so someone needs to debug it.

Research direction
Start by inspecting the GitHub Actions CI configuration and running the POSIX tests on the existing Ubuntu 20.04 setup. Then add Ubuntu 22.04 and Debian 10 coverage, investigate the failures reported when those environments were previously attempted, and confirm the CI jobs pass on both requested distributions.
