Programatic control of the ports?

I am working on a custom solution where I am monitoring various phases of the printing process and would like the ability to control the various ports programatically. I know there is the ability to control the ports via the WebUI, but I am looking for something more API driven, whether by publishing to an MQTT topic or making a REST API call or whatnot.

Is this currently possible or is this something that can be added? Controlling the ports via the WebUI is... neat... but doesn't really offer the automation that I was hoping for when I bought these for my printers.

Start with the existing WebUI port controls mentioned in the issue and determine how they currently operate. Compare possible MQTT and REST API entry points for controlling the ports; done means the ports can be controlled programmatically for automated printing workflows.
