Description

As discussed in Engine Room, fire projectiles (and maybe others, eg grenades from legbombard) seem to have unnatural lifespans, exceeding their range even with burnblow.

In this particular instance, it means that dragon's maws are often able to shoot arm rockos despite the rockos having an in theory 65 range advantage (475 on armrock, 410 maw).

They won't autoaim, but a force fire lets them overshoot and unless the rocko is surgically positioned, will be able to hit it. This compounds with the maws being 'forgotten' as valid targets the moment they drop down again, and are reset to looking like maws (this is a gadget issue presumably, but is related to game impact).

Research direction

Start by reproducing the Engine Room scenario with dragon's maws firing arm rockos, including forced fire and burnblow, and compare projectile lifetime with the stated 475 versus 410 ranges. Done means fire projectiles no longer outlive their effective range; also check whether the related target-reset behavior remains a separate gadget issue.
