Description
Hi! Suggesting a tool for the **Image/Video** category.
**Tool:** bildesjekk.no — https://bildesjekk.no
**Cost:** Free, no account or sign-up required
**Language:** Norwegian (interface and results)
**What it does**
A browser-based image checker aimed at ordinary users dealing with
marketplace fraud, dating scams and AI-generated images. It runs, in
priority order:
1. C2PA / Content Credentials — manifest validated cryptographically
against the official C2PA trust list
2. EXIF / IPTC metadata parsing, including the IPTC "AI-edited" field
3. A local ONNX pixel model (Community Forensics, MIT) running
client-side in the browser via onnxruntime-web
4. A vision-model pass for visual observations
5. An optional second-opinion check from an independent detector
**Why it might be of interest**
- Results are presented as separate lines of evidence in a signal
table, never as a single verdict. The tool never claims an image is
"proven authentic" and does not output calibrated percentages.
- It is deliberately tuned so that false accusations against genuine
photos weigh more heavily than missed detections, since the pixel
detectors disagree with each other often enough that neither can
carry a verdict alone.
- Uploaded images are not stored.
- Norwegian-language coverage in this category seems thin, and the
target audience is non-technical users rather than newsrooms.
**Known limitations (stated openly on the site)**
- It cannot tell whether an image is old or new — there is no reliable
signal for capture date in a re-saved file.
- Screenshots and re-compression destroy the pixel signals: JPEG
re-encoding at q75 collapsed detection on one test image from 99.9%
to roughly 4%.
- Absence of signals is not evidence of authenticity, and the site
says so directly.
I'm the developer, so treat this as a self-suggestion — happy to
answer questions or provide test images. Thanks for maintaining the
toolkit!
