Description

**As a** Fire Behaviour Specialist

**I need** a three-scale and intuitive approach to displaying advisory information in the left-hand side panel of ASA

**So That** the information I am viewing on the map aligns with the information summarized in the side panel

**Acceptance Criteria**
- [ ] Given I select the provincial extent, When advisory information is displayed in the side panel, Then it is presented in a manner that describes what is going on in the province, eg.) which centers are issuing advisories.
- [ ] Given I select a Fire Centre, When advisory information is displayed in the side panel, Then it is presented in a manner that describes what is going on in the Fire Centre, eg.) which Zones are issuing advisories.
- [ ] Given I select a Fire Zone, When advisory information is displayed in the side panel, Then it is presented in a manner that describes what is going on in the Fire Zone, eg.) percentage of combustible land area, which fuel types, topographic positions, etc.

**Additional Context**
- There is a Fire Center drop down below the header which is very confusing. I'm not sure this drop down is even needed. Perhaps this drop down would be more useful within the side panel as a way to select a finer scale/zoom extent on the map. Eg.) If a user is zoomed to a Fire Centre the drop down could enable a user to zoom into and display information for one of the respective Fire Zones.
- Consider making the side panel visible all the time and better connected to what is displayed on the map.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the ASA map and left-hand side panel behavior at provincial, Fire Centre, and Fire Zone extents. Use the acceptance criteria to define done: the panel summarizes advisory information at the selected scale, and the confusing Fire Centre selector is resolved or repositioned as appropriate.
