Description

I tried navigating through the application with a screen reader (JAWS) and found a few barriers (I'm by no means an expert here so if anything doesn't make sense let me know and we can figure it out together. Some of these may have been fixed in your recent updates too).

1. Government of BC logo is not announced as a navigational link. Can you provide a clear accessible name (e.g., “Home”) for the logo link so its purpose is announced?
2. Instructional text is visually present but not announced. Can you check that all instructional text is announced in context with related fields?
3. Buttons and controls have unclear names. Can you check that all interactive elements have clear names that reflect their function?
4. Page or dialog changes are not announced. Can you check that new pages or dialogs announce their title and that focus is managed appropriately?
5. Home page lacks programmatic headings and page structure. Can you provide a clear page title and structured headings to communicate page purpose and layout?
6. Lists (employees, offices etc.) are not identified as lists. Can you use list markup and headers so users are informed when lists begin and end?
7. Keyboard navigation is sometimes inconsistent. Can you check that all interactive elements are reachable via keyboard in a logical, predictable order?
