PPR - Ability to select various versions of the a business name to conduct a search on

I think you are talking of the historical companies that appear in the dropdown when conducting a search on a company.. let me lay out the issues: if I am an external user and I am doing a business debtor lien search.. and the auto-populated company names start appearing as you type out the company name for the search.. and this name might show up 2 or 3 times..with different business numbers associated to the company.. I might be confused as to which company I should "choose from" .. and I might be concerned that if I "choose" the wrong one.. then the other company with a different business number (but same name) won't be located in the search I am paying for. The reason for the multiple companies with the same name is because one or more of them are historical companies (no longer active) that had that business number.. one of them is active the others are historical.. this begs questions to the users of how adequate and/or specific the search is or the results will be.

We were having discussions.. should it show up in the drop down but be flagged somehow as historical? should it stay as is.. should the historical ones be removed and not appear in the drop down? if so,, what are the implications of this...

Now, it appears the historical companies were removed from the drop down.. and the client who is searching for active liens that may still exist on this (recently) dissolved company.. is questioning if the results will appear.. if there is no company name found in this auto-lookup drop down thing. In this case.. there was no company name that was found when typing it out..

The issue does not identify files, tests, or entry points. First clarify whether historical companies should appear in autocomplete and how searches should include their liens; then locate the autocomplete and search-result paths and define the expected behavior for active and dissolved companies.
