Impact of King's Printer FTP Change

Good Morning,

I wanted to make you aware that the King’s Printer Secure FTP (SFTP) server is moving. We are migrating our servers from our location at 563 Superior to the government Data Centres hosted by OCIO. As well, King’s Printer is taking additional steps to secure shared resources such as our FTP Server to prevent any foreign actors from accessing our systems and data.

Effective as soon as possible, the Secure FTP Server used by King’s Printer will begin using Public/Private Keypairs to log into the server. This eliminates the requirement for passwords, as the password exchange happens between the server and client application (such as WinSCP or FileZilla) over a secure link.

I’ve attached documentation on how to use our new procedures and how to create a public/private keypair. Once you send your public key to our systems team, we will install it an notify you when the new Secure FTP server is ready for you to test. Currently, we are planning on cutting over to the new system December 16, 2024. At that point, your regular userid/password login method will no longer work. Documentation on how to set up and use Secure FTP Client software such as WinSCP or FileZilla will be sent along next week.

A banner message on our existing Secure FTP server will remind all users to contact us for documentation and questions as well as remind everyone about the cut over date.
