SP/GP Change for Completing Party in SBC Regional Offices

As per thread below, we are looking to make changes to allow a completing party to provide registration and change forms, in person, at a SBC Office.

Below is the email thread with policy.

Updates as follows needed:

• Forms REG 707 and REG 706 need to be revised with certifying party statements that match the BCROS statement.
• Reg 706 (SP registration) needs to be revised to include proprietorship information in a non-certifying section.

Hi Megan,

Thanks for your patience as I looked into this question.

I don’t think there needs to be a requirement that the partner or the proprietor themselves need to attend the SBC Office in person. This seems like an overly cautious condition – someone with an online account can register SP/GPs on behalf of another person so I’m not sure why the process for SBC registrations is different.

The requirement can be shifted to the following:
• Forms REG 707 and REG 706 need to be revised with certifying party statements that match the BCROS statement.
• Reg 706 (SP registration) needs to be revised to include proprietorship information in a non-certifying section.
• The completing party will be the one to sign the forms in the office (not the proprietor/partner).
• The completing party will have their ID checked in the office to ensure it matches the form and that it is input by the CSR into the certifying party field.
• Job aides would need to be updated.

BCROS is already set up to accept different parties for completing/certifying party and the proprietor/partner identity.

I hope this helps answer the question and alleviate any issues that SBC centre staff may be facing.

Hi Amber,

A question has arisen since the launch of SP/GP and I wanted to hear your take:

In the instance of a filing for SP/GP completed in person at an SBC Office- should there be a requirement that the proprietor or partner is the person to show up in person to request the service? OR as long as the prescribed form is signed by the correct individual could the completing party be another person and the completing party bring in the signed form to SBC, show their own ID and request service? Would it be different depending on the service, ie registration, maintenance filing, dissolution?
