BA - Support international characters esp. for Localized BO Name

Update: Decision has been made to add a field for localized name to the beneficial owner data object.

What do we do for beneficial owners from other countries?

Given the recent decisions in BC to support indigenous names, and for other communities using languages other than english, we would like to be able to handle international character sets.

However, there are potential issues around compatibility of data sharing with partners who do not support such character sets. Confer with Kaine on this first.

Also determine which char set(s) we would like to support. What does the BODS format specify?

Ask Kaine: UK collects a localized beneficial ownership name (ie. Gaelic/Welsh, etc.) and an anglicized name. And have a built-in mapping functionality to anglicize the localized name. Could we do something similar for beneficial owner names only. This will help inform dev decisions.
